Let’s Talk About the Filling
The filling is the heart and soul of any turnover, and let me tell you, this one is pure deliciousness. We’re mixing together three types of cheeses for the perfect creamy filling that’s savory enough to make you go back for more!
- Feta Cheese – Crumbly and tangy, it gives the filling a salty punch that pairs perfectly with the creamier cheeses.
- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese – Melty, gooey goodness.
- Cream Cheese – This one is key to make the filling ultra-creamy and smooth, so every bite is soft and rich.
- Herbs – Fresh parsley and mint are a must here! They bring brightness and a burst of flavor that cuts through the richness of the cheeses. You get that herby freshness in every bite!
And to tie it all together, a whisked egg gives the filling a velvety texture that makes it even more satisfying. The result? A cheesy filling that’s rich, creamy, and just the right amount of flavor! That filling gets stuffed into a puff pastry square and baked to perfection. Every time you bite into one of these turnovers, you’ll get the perfect balance of flavors that makes you want to reach for another!

minutesButtery, flakey puff pastry filled with a blend of feta, cream cheese, mozzarella, and fresh herbs!
Ingredients
2 sheets (17.3 oz. Box) of Puff Pastry Dough, thawed according to package instructions
1 3/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella, plus additional if desired
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
2 teaspoons chopped mint
1 large egg
Nigella black seeds or sesame seeds, as desired for topping (optional)
1 large egg, or as needed (for egg wash)
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the crumbled feta, softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, parsley, mint, and 1 egg. Use a fork to mash and mix everything together until fully combined.
- Roll out each thawed puff pastry sheet to about a 10-12 inch square on a lightly floured surface. This will give you enough room to cut into smaller squares.
- Once rolled out, cut each sheet of puff pastry into 9 smaller squares (about 3×3 – 4×4 inches each).
- Evenly divide the filling onto the center of each puff pastry square. Add additional shredded cheese on top of the filling (optional). Be careful not to overfill.
- Carefully fold each square into a triangle. Press the edges together with a fork to seal them tightly. Place each turnover onto the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk an egg to make the egg wash. Brush the tops of each turnover with the egg wash and sprinkle Nigella black seeds on top (as desired/optional).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden and puffed up. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a darker, golden finish on your turnovers, brush the tops with an egg wash made from 2 large egg yolks instead of 1 large egg.
